The Apostle Peter was a Zealot. He easily became absorbed in his devotion and he could become devoted to anything. Such was the case when he rebuked Jesus for saying that he was going to be crucified and die. Peter's devotion to keep Jesus alive also blinded him to the reality of Jesus resurrection. This in turn blinded him to the possibility of eternal life for all who would call upon the Resurrected Christ. It is paramount in our theology to not mistake the depth of our convictions for their accuracy.
