Gossip destroys not only those whose who are gossiped about, but those who do the gossiping as well.

1 Cor 6:19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is the temple is the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were  bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

Jesus said "...why do you look at the speck in your bother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?" Mt 7:3.

Our lives are God's business. Other peoples lives are God's business as well. We then, should mind our own business and cease interfering with God and His business.
