People are Impossible
In Lk. 5 we have the story of Jesus, after having taught a multitude of people, instructing Peter to launch out into the deep and put down his nets for a catch. Peter said that they had been fishing all night and caught nothing, but at Jesus request he would try again. He let down his nets and they were filled to the point of breaking. Jesus did the impossible! He did it through Peter’s net and was about
to do it through Peter’s life. He still does the impossible. Peter and the other disciples were the impossible. Jesus did in and through them what only Jesus could do. The works they did and the lives they lived, were simply the fruit of His labour. It is the same for us today. We are the impossible, called to do the impossible. No need to be frightened — unless of course we are relying on ourselves to accomplish the task. Our part in all of this is the same as Peter’s was. Simply yield our life to Jesus and what we have in our hand this day, right where we are; whether fishing net, shovel, instrument, or pen. The rest of what happens is God's part and His responsibility.
